Resources for Special Schools
A variety of workshops and trail sheets are available for Special Schools. All visits can be tailor made to meet your requirements.

Workshops
Mini-tour - A 30-45 minute guided sensory exploration of the cathedral followed by 30 minutes to explore in small groups. We will match the tour to the specific needs of your group and the theme of your visit. Highlights of the tour including baptizing a baby, smelling incense, monastic music and becoming a bishop. It may be useful to download our "Art, Science and Maths" guidance sheet for all accompanying adults.

Self-Guided Visits
A member of the Education team will greet you and give a brief introduction to the cathedral before you begin to explore self guided using the Sensory Box.
The Sensory Box - Use our new collated sensory box to explore the cathedral with your group. The kit contains large photographs of cathedral furniture and decoration, incense pouches to smell, a scallop shell, activity cards etc.
Self-Guided Trail Sheets
A member of the Education team will greet you and give a brief introduction to the cathedral before you begin to explore self guided using one of the following sheets.
Cathedral Explorer - A short trail exploring many interesting objects and areas in the cathedral. Please bring your own pencils. Answer sheet available to download.

Art, Science and Maths - A guidance sheet aimed at teachers and helpers. This sheet helps you to explore and discuss the building with small groups of children.
Prices
General visit (1 hour in the cathedral using a trail sheet or participating in a workshop only) - £2 per pupil (no charge for accompanying adults)
Additional activity - £1.40 pp
Open Door Pass - An annual voucher entitling unlimited self-guided access plus one guided visit (with booking - last minute acceptable) £50 pa. Additional guided visits may be booked at an additional charge.
Lunchroom* - £15 per half hour (each lunchroom can accommodate one class of students plus helpers). Once a lunchroom is booked it must be paid for even if not used.
* Please note that our lunchroom is located up a steep flight of stairs. Alternative accommodation is occasionally available. Please phone to discuss details.
